My review , I have purchased many of this style and all have been complete garbage . This one however is the best so far . Note: From here on I will refer to this item as heavy duty a lock box because some of the following , very fixable issues, prevent it from truly being anywhere near what is a “ safe “ . Here’s my honest review .Pros : The features . It has a very fast response and accurate biometric print reader . It has a full numeric keypad with a full 10 digits. Most have less . It has a keyed back up with a better cylinder and keyway then most . Has a usb power inlet in case the batteries die and you don’t have key access ( very nice feature ) . It has an automatic interior light that just bright enough . All these make this the best in this category for features by far. The Cons : ) the cable that is included for securing it to something immovable is a complete joke . Maybe 1/8 of actual braided cable . I wouldn’t even lock a bicycle with this and expect it to still be there when I got back … never mind a firearm ! In fact I was able to cut the cable easily with a multi tool wire cutter in 2 good squeezes ! In fact , their own promo video shows the cable being used to secure it to the bottom leg of an end table by a Bed that can just be picked up and removed . Lol . Apparently even the manufacturer knows that this cable is more comical then secure ! 2) The key pad is a backlit capacitive touch screen that is not tactile at all making the first digit in low light a total gamble 3) the included mounting “hardware” is literally two 1.25” Sheetrock size screws with plastic wall anchors . Ha ha ha ! 4) last con is that for some reason all these similarly designed lock boxes locate a “ reset “ button right where it can be easily pushed either by you by accident … or by a thief to gain access with a properly bent paper clip . To the Manufacturer : relocate or at least put a cover on the reset button so that the “ items “ inside don’t push against the button and reset things by accident ! Conclusion ? This is the best of this design so far . But sadly that bar is so incredibly low . And that mostly remains true. This is a very good lock box , not a safe . With such a cheap cable and mounting hardware - this will just get stolen in 30 seconds and opened later on in another location if not already . So if you want to stop or slow down your kids from gaining access … this is the one to get . If you want to feel your gun is completely secure from thieves ? There isn’t one to be found yet . This “ lock box “ is the closest to being perfect and yet it is a speed bump not a concrete wall .But … if these few small issues were fixed ( especially the cable , reset button and keypad ) then this would be a 4 maybe even 5 star product !
