This rating is for the movies themselves - it can be difficult to get these Andy Sidaris classics in one box, so having them all in one spot is worth it. The actual box is only so-so.Andy Sidaris is a no-nonsense filmmaker who starts with a simple premise, and isn't afraid to do whatever he must to get that premise up to 90 minutes. His movies are pure schlock entertainment, and should be enjoyed with popcorn and friends prepared to laugh. The motto for Andy's films is, "Bullets, Bombs, and Babes".A great example is "Malibu Express". The setup is that international espionage is afoot, so the federal government hires a skirt-chasing private investigator to discover the source of the leaks. Or something. Andy Sidaris then hired some Playboy models, put sybil Danning in some ridiculously low-cut outfits, and inserted a weird sub-plot where rednecks keeps trying to race modified cars against our hero. There's also a convoluted murder investigation in the middle. There's explosions, there's nudity, there's race cars, and a quantity of rape that will have psychologists in the room taking furious notes. Near the 90-minute mark the movie gets a "Clue"-style whodunit reveal and we're off to the next disc. Don't try to think too much about anything onscreen, but overall you can follow the plot - even if it takes some completely arbitrary turns here and there. If you're down to get 12 movies that are basically variations on that theme, this is for you.If this set wasn't so hard to find it would lose some points for the actual packaging. All you get are two spindles of double-sided discs, meaning you have to squint at the middle ring to get the name of each film. It's the lowest-price possible way to distribute these discs. Each movie gets a one-paragraph blurb on the back cover to help you select your viewing, and that's it.Andy Sedaris' movies are just weird enough that I wish they could get a better box set. Each film on its own disc, with trailers and whatever behind-the-scenes information exists. I need more of a window into the method behind this madness. The only thing you get in the description for this set is "The Andy Sidaris biography available on Hardback from publisher Heavy Metal Magazine" ... so I guess you can go there for info.5 stars for the films, 3 stars for packaging, left at 5 stars because you do get all 12 films in playable condition.
