I never thought a tape gun matters as far as how noisy it is, i tried different rolls of tape but still noisy, i compared this to another gun i bought on Amazon - it has a lever on it and is 50% less noisy than this one. overall its a great gun, if that screaming tape noise doesn't matter to you then this is a great gun. I do a lot of packing at night and i try not to bother people as much as possible.
