I use this to melt my thermoplastic pellets without water. I only use the low (150 degree) setting since that's exactly the temperature that they melt. Sometimes I want to melt the pellets without water so that I can 1) melt them quicker 2) mold the plastic around water-sensitive objects 3) add powdered or liquid coloring agentsThis heat gun works perfectly for this application. It does make a bit of a strange smell on the high setting, but like I said, I only need the low setting.There is no smell when using the low setting, it heats up within 10 seconds, and the safety guard at the tip stays cool (at low temperature)This is all I need, and the price was right. Maybe think twice if you're needing a high heat gun, or if you plan on using it for extended periods of time (more than 10 minutes of constant use)For my purposes, this product works perfectly. You get what you pay for though, so don't abuse\overuse and you'll be fine.
